Prospectors with a portable steam engine on the Stanthorpe tin field (5013962832) - Photographer: William BoagLocation: Stanthorpe, Queensland, AustraliaDate: ca 1872Description: This steam engine was made by Robey and Company of Lincoln, England. It was used to drive a water pump which drained the workings or helped with the task of sluicing. It was a small four-horse power model which was fired with wood and was protected from the weather by a makeshift shelter covered with a canvas tarpaulin.
