Põlva uue kultuurimaja ehitus
The current building of Põlva Cultural Centre at Kesk 15 was built in 1987-1991. The main engineer was Taso Tampere and architect Hans Kõll. Construction cost 3.7 million rubles. The opening of the house was held on 28 June 1991. In the competition review “The Best Building of the Republic of Estonia in 1991” the Põlva Culture Centre was recognised as worthy of the first degree diploma.
There were 500 seats in theatre and concert hall, dance hall, salon, circle training rooms, sound studio, crafts club, Maarja Gallery, Põlva Art School and coffee shop “Janovain”.
From 22 February 1995 to June 2001, the cultural centre operated as a public limited company. From July 5, 2001, the cultural centre of the city will be the sub-union of the ANK.
