Washington - Key Bridge and Georgetown from Arlington (4408054515) - Looking across the Potomac River to Georgetown, from Arlington, Virginia. Rosslyn Circle is in the foreground. It was the gateway to the Rosslyn district when I lived and worked there in 1965-1970. It was the end of the line for the No. 38 bus, which went to downtown Washington. The Key Bridge crosses the Potomac. It was opened in 1923.

The Georgetown section of Washington is across the river. The Whitehurst Freeway, built in 1949, cuts horizontally across the scene. It runs along the Potomac River from the Key Bridge to K Street in downtown Washington, bypassing M Street, the main street in Georgetown. It connects with Key Bridge (U.S. 29, which is Lee Highway in Northern Virginia) and Canal Road coming in from the left. navigate_before navigate_next
